Task: 4 - Goodwin's Theory

I completed research into Andrew Goodwin's Theory of the 8 elements that need to be included in a music video. Completing this research and planning task was paramount in understanding the most vital aspects of what needed including in my final product. After learning about Goodwin's Theory, I then went on to watch a variety of professional music videos and analyse them according to Goodwin's Theory, picking out the elements that feature in the videos.
This helped massively in the creating of my music video as I was able to ensure I included each element of Goodwin's Theory, while actually knowing what it should look like in practice through watching professional music videos.

Task: 3 - Why are digipaks/adverts/websites important to an album?

I have completed research into the importance of digipaks, adverts and websites so as to further my understanding of how all of these interlink and contribute towards each of my ancillary tasks, this is important because I now have a more thorough understanding of what needs to be included on each ancillary task, the typical codes and conventions of both digipaks and album adverts and how to apply this to my own work.
This helped me in knowing what needs to be included on my ancillary tasks and final product and ensured that I followed all the typical codes and conventions for these media products.

Task: 2 - Analyse digipaks and album adverts/websites

In this task, I took Ariana Grande's album digipak 'yours truly' and analysed it's key concepts and features that make it a good digipak and things that I should include on mine, and then looked at the website of her current album. This is useful because it has furthered my understanding of what both digipaks and album websites should include, how they intertwine and what should be included on my digipak.

After, I looked at the album advert of Jessie J's 'who you are' which showed me how to make my album advert attractive to potential consumers and to advertise my album in an effective way with bright colours and a good picture. This too has helped me in understanding what should be included on my digipak

Task: 1 - Introduction to A2 Media

I chose to take media as I have always been interested in pursuing a career in advertising and I feel that media studies will help me to learn the skills required for this career. I am looking forward to making a music video this year as it will be an exciting project and I am looking forward to seeing how it will turn out. I hope to be an account executive in the future in an advertising company having done work experience with BBH.
